Last night it was Worship practice – it went really well. Normally what we do is just run through a whole bunch of songs and try and get a good arrangement and sound for the songs. Now what I forgot to mention yesterday was that our stuff still hasn´t arrived from the UK and unfortunately we´re still waiting for our instruments and other things. So in the interim Liz is doing vocals and I´m borrowing a guitar from the Pastor (I must admit I miss my Takemine though)

Anyway all is not lost and hopefully we should get our stuff by next Monday. I´m waiting for a phone call from them today to confirm delivery – I´ll keep you all posted.

This weekend we´re planning to do a little bit of sight seeing and we might either head into Gibraltar or even Marbella. Photos should be coming soon.

That´s it for now……talk to you later.

Well anoter week has gone by and most things are falling into place.

Last Sunday I was leading worship at church here (as expected!) and things went really well. The band are pretty good and as predicted all that they needed was a little bit of leadership and organisation and the rest was easy. Tonight it´s worship practice again, and we´re gonna just continue to play together and decide who´s playing on sunday. Both Liz & I did say that we wanted to get into a good habit of getting a break in leading, but we´ve both decided that the best scenario for here is to help as much as we can every week and then when we want/need to be away/holiday then all we do is let the pastor know. In the meanwhile we will also try and spend time with others and nurture them into a place of where they are able to lead and in the long term that should help the church.

Liz this week has been going to her Spanish lessons and she has been enjoying herself very much. She´s in quite a small group (3 in total including her) but she´s definately getting the most of the lessons and she´s very happy with her pronunciation. She does 2 hours every day, but this week she´s only doing 3 days – it´s exam time here so they are short on teachers but after next week things should go back to full swing. Yo´ll be proud to know that she´s been using her Spanish a lot and getting the bus from Estepona and back all on her own. She´s also managed to do the weekly shopping and buy herself some new sandals. Go girl!

Last night I had a real gastronomical treat, Liz bought a Spanish cook book (written in Spanish) and she´s adamant to cook a recipe every so often. So last night was the 1st one, “Habas con Jamon” – basically it´s pealed broad beans with with Jamon Serrano (similar to Parma Ham). Very very nice indeed, I´m looking forward to the next instalment and hopefuly I´ll get some pics up.

Work is going very very well. Lots to do, lots to learn, lots of meetings and lots to share when I get home in the evenings at 6.30pm. It´s a great challenge and I really hope to continue to get to grips with things everyday.

Well it´s time for me to say goodnight, I´ll write a little more later.

Lots of love,

Mike

This is where it begins…..

just a little note to let you all know that we have arrived safe and sound and that everything seems to be going just fine. As you know we arrived on Thursday at Jerez airport, picked up our car and headed down towards Estepona. 2.5 hours later we were in our new flat and comfortably sat down.

Since then we´ve done some food shopping, seen a couple of people, went to church on Sunday and even managed to get to the beach everyday for a little walk (and a little cold swim that only I had the courage to do!). Yesterday was my 1st day at work (my hours are 9-2 & 3-6), and things went well, lots of meetings, company lunch and my fair share of SPAM in my email account. But all in all generally a very enjoyable day with lots of things to learn and people to manage. Needless to say my fair share of personal emails is down to a minimum due to the fact that I´m the new boss and I have to set a good example :-).

Liz is doing very well, really settling in, loving the Spanish food (specially sangria & paella!) and the lifestyle and today is her 1st Spanish lesson. I´m off to pick her up at 12.30 so I can take her to her lesson for 1pm. Then after her lesson she´s gonna get the bus back to Estepona – so should be a challenge (she´s been well briefed and if there´s any problems then she can call me on her mobile!) Next week is when the intensive course starts (today is just a one 2 one) with 2 hours a day in a group of 6.

Tonight we´re off to church for music practice so what this space for more news.

Anyway this was just a little note to wish you all well and to let you know what´s been happening. I´m also including our post address just in case you want to send us some Marmite in the post:

Lots of love,
