Well the big packing session has begun. I thought it best to start as one of us is usually entertaining Tomas. I think we have probably done less than one box a day..

Other than that we’ve started to tie up some loose ends. The car went into the garage today to get it into shape for selling (after the pilar went into me last year). I think Mike has mentionned that we have a buyer for it and the pastor has volunteered the use of his car for the rest of our stay here if we need it so that is really generous of him.

Mike has signed up with a few job agencies and got his CV out there so we’ve had a few interesting phone calls. The good news is that there are jobs and he’s got time to find the right one.

Tomas’ physio is off on holiday for the week next week so we might try and do abit of the long awaited sight seeing. We shall see how it goes. At least he’s better and when she comes back it’s just a once a week visit. I would put up a photo but I haven’t got around to putting them on the computer yet so, next time.

Above Tomas is doing “tummy time” – one of his exercises to improve neck muscles. Usually the smile lasts for 10 seconds…

Meanwhile we hope you all had a very happy Easter. We celebrated by going to church here for the first time. Previously we had been away and made use of the holiday time but as mike is taking an extended break we stayed here. It was nice to be there because they decorated the church with massive palm leaves and had some hot cross buns available. And from memory over the weekend two people became christians so there was even more to celebrate : ).

Since Easter we haven’t been up to much. We’ve met up with some friends and continued with the physio sessions. Really we’re just trying to get into gear regarding where to visit before we leave. Meanwhile it looks like we may have a buyer for our car but we’ll find out for sure this sunday and then once we know we can look for an English plated one here.

Well unfortunately the video proved to be too much to publish and has to be adjusted – something mike will look into at somepoint, so hopefully it will appear soon…

Meanwhile we have been kept busy and have had the pleasure of Andi and Cheryl visiting us. It was a very chilled visit and kept ourselves local to Estepona except for church in Fuengirola of course. They coped very well with the baby and managed to get a full nights sleep most of the time so I don’t think it’s put them off 😉

After their departure we welcomed Dave and Sarah. They visited about the same time a year ago and still came back for more!! We did something new with them which we none of us had done before and that was to go into Malaga. We live so close but for one reason or another it’s never come up on the agenda. That’s where the photo was taken and we were very impressed with the city which has a nice old part and an industrial port along with an old castle to name but a few things.
Certainly somewhere we might go back to if we have the time.

In between site-seeing we kept Tomas’s appointments with the physio and yesterday we saw the doctor who agreed that he was improving but still needed another couple of months worth of therapy. So, it’s good news and the physio also was impressed with him today as he looked completely left (for the first time with her) naturally.

Hi,I just wanted to mention a little prayer request for when you have time. The doctor at Tomas’s last check diagnosed him with congenital torticollis. It sounds grand but it’s basically a stiff neck which they think happened either in the womb or at birth when the ventouse was used. The treatment is physiotherapy and we are going three times a week. As you can imagine it’s not very pleasant for him so the sooner it can be resolved the better 🙂

On a lighter note we are enjoying the company of Andi and Cheryl who have come to meet their new nephew. They stay with us till friday so I’ll be up dating the blog later to mention what we’ve been up to.

The countdown has begun!! Already we are well in to Feb and Mike finishes in a matter of weeks. He is definately lighter in his footsteps when he goes to work, knowing he won’t have to in the near future!

We haven’t yet made any plans for our time off, just got some ideas of where to go. Of course the financial situation may dictate to us what is feasible or not…. but we’ll see. It’s just good to take the plunge and see what happens. Even if we don’t do much, it’s a well deserved break for Mike.

Meanwhile Tomas is doing well and is sticking to his little routine. He’s still sleeping through the night (Praise the Lord!!) and growing well. He’s still not 100% convinced that a bath is a good idea but he’ll get there slowly : )

love to you all x

Hi I forgot to mention on the last entry that on 6th Jan is more like “christmas day” here. It’s called “The Kings”,
and it relates to when the three kings came bringing gifts to Jesus. So it’s on this day they share presents and eat lots of food. In the evening they have a procession with floats and the “Kings” throw sweets into the crowd. We went this year and lets just say you need some sort of body armour to defend against the children scrabbling for the candy! As you can see the floats have evolved abit and there are all sorts of themes. Don’t ask me what though…

Hello to you all. I thought I’d write a little update while Tomas is sleeping and Mike is at work. The photos below were take at christmas, with my mum, dad and brother. It was our first christmas in Spain which was quite different to christmas in the UK but it was nice to be in a warmer climate for a change.

As for the UK we are more than likely to be returning this year. We will have reached our original two year review time and alot has happened since we came out. So much so Mike has handed his notice in and is working to the end of Feb! After that we are going to stay for a couple of months and see the parts of andalucia we haven’t yet made it to and for a few last minute guests to come over.

No doubt it will be hard to leave this beautiful place and return to the streets of London but we feel the time is right and who knows what the future may hold? This may have been our introduction to Spain…

Having said that it will be great to be back home and see you all and for Tomas to meet you all too : ) and we thought we’d make it easier on ourselves by returning in the Spring. love to you all and see you soon!
