Snow in London – finally an update!

Hi all,

I am aware that I haven’t written in the blog for a loooooong time but I’m hoping this is the beginning of many updates. As you all know we’ve had some crazy weather here in London and I thought I would post a little collage from the Cartwrights.

New Year with new locations to visit. (part two)

Back from lunch guys. On the 2nd of Jan (2 days ago) We headed to a little place called Pirenopolis in the mornning. Very old town based in the estate of Goiás full of lovely little shops that sell local crafts made in the area. The old town has been preserved so it’s very interesting to walk around and check out the shops and the houses.

In the afternoon we headed to a beautiful waterfall close-by. I must admit the trek up to the top was challenging (not to say the least) and definately not suitable for a 2 year old, but we all made it there and back in one piece.

That’s it for now. Enjoy the New Year. See you all soon. Mike & Liz & Tomás

New Year with new locations to visit.

Hi all, Happy New Year to you all! We finally got some days of solid sun so we decided to make the most of it and get out to the great out doors.

New Year’s Day we headed to a local park (Buriti) and we let Tomás run around and see the fish in the lake, some birds in the trees, the waterwheel and his favourite part was the playground as always. As you can see by the pics, it was a fun day!

I’ve got some photos to add but I’m heading out to lunch so watch this space. Mike C

Still in Brazil :)

Well I have to confess our day visits out have been slightly hampered by the vast quantities of tropical rain we have been experiencing here (That’s just to make those of you in less warmer climates feel better). But we are determined to go out for the day tomorrow, come rain or shine, to the old part of town to see how things used to be. The main part of Goiania where we are now has apparently only been built in the last 70 years….

We did however visit some relatives yesterday who have a lovely country house with chickens, guinea fowl, ducks and others of the feathered variety and enjoyed a lovely brazilian meal of meat, beans and rice. Other trips have included a visit to a museum which has replicated villages from the indian tribes to the slaves to the settlers when they came. Most of which you can go inside and see how they used to live etc.

Otherwise we have been involved in church activites such as the ‘English Hour’ with mikes parents and mike lead worship last sunday. We have also been found guilty of introducing the game ‘Taboo’ into the church…..no doubt we shall hear after we have gone if it really catches on or not.

Meanwhile I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year!

Here are some pics of the different villages.

The boy’s birthday in Brazil

Hi guys,

The holidays have been so relaxing that I don’t seem to manage to spend as much time online as I do in London (I wonder why!). Anyway here are some pics from Tomás’ 2nd birthday on the 17th.

Happy Birthday Tomás

The Cartwrights have landed in Brasil!

Hi everyone, just to let you know that we arrived safely yesterday in Brasil after nearly 24 hours travel (by foot, car, bus and plane!) The weather is hot (as you can expect!) When we left Paris there was snow at 9pm and when we arrived in Sao Paulo the day after it was 21C at 6am in the morning. Talk about a contrast! Anyway the boy slept in the flight and has generally been a little superstar – we couldn´t have wished for more. Mum and dad are doing well and Liz is enjoying the weather a lot. Gotta rush and have dinner but watch this space for more news very soon.

Breaking News! The 1st scan of the 2nd baby.

We thought it would be interesting to see how many people are still checking the blog, even though we’ve been a little slow on the updates. As you can see by the photo we’ve been quite busy! Anyway for all of you faithfull readers out there you get to hear this news 1st (unless you already know). Liz is once again pregnant and expecting another baby! This scan was taken today at the Hommerton Hospital – due date is the 11th June.

Finally x 2!!

It has come to our attention this blog has some what been neglected over the past few months!! Apologies to everyone. We really do not have any excuses but especially now some of our family are back in Brazil we shall be paying it more attention :).

It was lovely to have Mike’s parents with us during August and September. Not only because they were with us but it also meant a break from doing more DIY! However it has begun again but not on such a large scale.

My mum and dad kindly offered to do something for us and stay for a few days. After plowing through the “to do” list it was agreed that some new banisters would look nice – and they do! They have taken out some wall and put some in spindles opening up the stairs very nicely. There’s abit of finishing off to do but most of the hard graft is done.

Thankfully we have no immediate deadline to meet so it’ll all probably be finished completely when we come back from Brazil.
I’m going to see what photos we have and see if I can remember how to post them!
