Welcome to my first experience of a nursery christmas party and I must say, being my one and only christmas party this year, it was very enjoyable. But that might be my proud mum feelings coming through…..
Prior to this grand event I had been hearing the tunes of twinkle twinkle little star and jingle bells coming from Tomas’s bedroom just before sleep and we had heard mention of a certain father christmas. This party confirmed all I had suspected. As you can see from the four videos below, the children did really well at singing all the songs they had been practising and I have to say Tomas was the most enthusiastic and loved every minute of it.
After the singing we all ate and they wore the christmas hats they had made. They then had a childrens entertainer and the grand finale was a visit from father christmas himself who gave out presents. All in all it was a successful day.
It has come to our attention this blog has some what been neglected over the past few months!! Apologies to everyone. We really do not have any excuses but especially now some of our family are back in Brazil we shall be paying it more attention :).
It was lovely to have Mike’s parents with us during August and September. Not only because they were with us but it also meant a break from doing more DIY! However it has begun again but not on such a large scale.
My mum and dad kindly offered to do something for us and stay for a few days. After plowing through the “to do” list it was agreed that some new banisters would look nice – and they do! They have taken out some wall and put some in spindles opening up the stairs very nicely. There’s abit of finishing off to do but most of the hard graft is done.
Thankfully we have no immediate deadline to meet so it’ll all probably be finished completely when we come back from Brazil.
I’m going to see what photos we have and see if I can remember how to post them!
Phew! We did it!!! We have painted, carpeted, put up curtains, put up lights and emptied boxes all in time for mikes parents to arrive. We have finally got our own bedroom!!! Pictures are to follow as Tomás is about to wake up any minute.
It’s been a long slog and it’s not completely over but we are pleased to say that mike’s mum and dad arrived today and we could offer them a room for a change! I have to go will be back soon with the pics.
Well for some reason I had it in my head I had posted something since the last one. Obviously not! We have been enjoying ourselves a bit. A friend of ours turned the big 30 last week and Mike and I booked a babysitter for the night. The theme of the bar was Hawaiian and there were plenty of bold colours splashing about the place both in the dress and the drinks. It made for a very different night, especially being close to Elephant and Castle in south London 🙂
Since then we have had some fantastic weather making everywhere seems so much happier. One saturday we took Tomás to the local park where there are some water fountains which he really enjoyed and proceeded to get drenched. I have some pictures of the before water and after, but I need to find the camera first! I will be back to post them….
It’s been a while since we’ve had snow and for London, it wasn’t bad. I got up early to see to Tomás only to pull back the curtains to see snow! I called to Mike to come and have a look only to get the reply “Will it still be the there in 10minutes?” I might be guessing but I think if Tomás could talk his response would have been different. We didn’t quite have time to get out in the garden and make a snowman. Instead we rushed off to church and enjoyed a lunch at Wagamamas but I think Tomás appreciated it anyway!
On a different note Cheryl and I enjoyed our winning tickets to the Ballet last saturday night. It was four modern pieces shown at the Coliseum near to Charing Cross. We left the children with the men, put on some nice clothes and went out on the town. It was excellent. For those who are interested the two main dancers were Sylvie Guillem and Russell Maliphant. Afterwards we treated ourselves to a cup of coffee at Patisserie Valerie in Soho who is renowned for extremely nice cakes too :). It must be mentionned that the fathers did a grand job as they were both asleep when we got back (that is the babies were asleep).
Well as all things, it takes longer than expected. You will be pleased to know however that we are no longer sleeping on the lounge floor and have moved back downstairs to the basement as of last week! Tomás moved into his room and his new curtains went up on Easter night thanks to the sewing skills of my mum.
The pictures you see below are of his room being done half way through. Unfortunately we were so eager to get it done we forgot to take some photos to show the true horror of what his room was like before. However I hope you can appreciate the transformation with the “new room” pics 🙂 We had alot of fun going to ikea for the 95p english breakfast and then spending alot more for the room items.
I am also pleased to say Tomás loves his new room. So much so he spent the first week waking up an hour earlier at 6am every day. He has since settled and thankfully is nearer to 630/7am. Just a little bit longer and we’re back to normal….
We are nearly there! I painted the radiator today so this means we just have the touching up to do and any second coats. The green is good. It seemed a little bright at first but once dried it looked great. It’s a little bit of springtime in his bedroom 🙂 The carpet is due to arrive next monday so we’re looking forward to sleeping back in a bedroom and out of the lounge!
Tomás is much better, his rash has pretty much gone, only if you squint your eyes a bit can you see it, and he’s in cheeky form as ever. Everything is a button to him – the nose, toes, the eye…anything!
Mike is doing better. He’s not taking as many pain killers as he was and is trying out different seat positions at work which seem to help. He’s missing cycling at the moment though due to his bike breaking and being irrepairable 🙁 He’ll just have to buy a new one …. Otherwise there is not much else to report Hope you are all well. x
