From Snow to Sun

Well for some reason I had it in my head I had posted something since the last one. Obviously not! We have been enjoying ourselves a bit. A friend of ours turned the big 30 last week and Mike and I booked a babysitter for the night. The theme of the bar was Hawaiian and there were plenty of bold colours splashing about the place both in the dress and the drinks. It made for a very different night, especially being close to Elephant and Castle in south London 🙂

Since then we have had some fantastic weather making everywhere seems so much happier. One saturday we took Tomás to the local park where there are some water fountains which he really enjoyed and proceeded to get drenched. I have some pictures of the before water and after, but I need to find the camera first! I will be back to post them….

Let It Snow!

It’s been a while since we’ve had snow and for London, it wasn’t bad. I got up early to see to Tomás only to pull back the curtains to see snow! I called to Mike to come and have a look only to get the reply “Will it still be the there in 10minutes?” I might be guessing but I think if Tomás could talk his response would have been different. We didn’t quite have time to get out in the garden and make a snowman. Instead we rushed off to church and enjoyed a lunch at Wagamamas but I think Tomás appreciated it anyway!

On a different note Cheryl and I enjoyed our winning tickets to the Ballet last saturday night. It was four modern pieces shown at the Coliseum near to Charing Cross. We left the children with the men, put on some nice clothes and went out on the town. It was excellent. For those who are interested the two main dancers were Sylvie Guillem and Russell Maliphant. Afterwards we treated ourselves to a cup of coffee at Patisserie Valerie in Soho who is renowned for extremely nice cakes too :). It must be mentionned that the fathers did a grand job as they were both asleep when we got back (that is the babies were asleep).

The art of perseverance

I have to admit is somewhat contagious when Liz adds something to the blog, I feel that I then have to add my little mutterings just to give it a bit of an edge. 2008 so far has been a very interesting year, my biggest challenge has been the muscle that I irritated on my left leg (and for the record I have no idea what I said to it :-)) Anyway last week was the 1st time I got on the bike for 2 months and that felt good (and a little cold too) – the doctor recommended that I continue doing sport but nothing too strenuous. The painkillers are working well and I’ve even got a referral to the physio (tba) – after 3 very different visits to the local GP. Yesterday I also took a little bit
of a plunge and decided to return to the squash court – nothing too intense, just a bit of light training with a friend which I can confirm did me some good.

As you know Easter we spent in Solihull with the in-laws and that was a great break. Getting away from London for a few days is a good change of scenery which freshens the heart and soul!

Work is busy as it’s the end of the month and the quarter and everyone needs stuff done b4 the quarter is over, but nothing that I can’t cope with!

Anyway, mutterings over, back to work, see you on the other side 🙂

new room :)

Well as all things, it takes longer than expected. You will be pleased to know however that we are no longer sleeping on the lounge floor and have moved back downstairs to the basement as of last week! Tomás moved into his room and his new curtains went up on Easter night thanks to the sewing skills of my mum.

The pictures you see below are of his room being done half way through. Unfortunately we were so eager to get it done we forgot to take some photos to show the true horror of what his room was like before. However I hope you can appreciate the transformation with the “new room” pics 🙂 We had alot of fun going to ikea for the 95p english breakfast and then spending alot more for the room items.

I am also pleased to say Tomás loves his new room. So much so he spent the first week waking up an hour earlier at 6am every day. He has since settled and thankfully is nearer to 630/7am. Just a little bit longer and we’re back to normal….

Paint, paint, paint

We are nearly there! I painted the radiator today so this means we just have the touching up to do and any second coats. The green is good. It seemed a little bright at first but once dried it looked great. It’s a little bit of springtime in his bedroom 🙂 The carpet is due to arrive next monday so we’re looking forward to sleeping back in a bedroom and out of the lounge!

Tomás is much better, his rash has pretty much gone, only if you squint your eyes a bit can you see it, and he’s in cheeky form as ever. Everything is a button to him – the nose, toes, the eye…anything!

Mike is doing better. He’s not taking as many pain killers as he was and is trying out different seat positions at work which seem to help. He’s missing cycling at the moment though due to his bike breaking and being irrepairable 🙁 He’ll just have to buy a new one …. Otherwise there is not much else to report Hope you are all well. x

Power is Back!

I am pleased to say we’re back with full power ahead! And we are full steam ahead with painting Tomás’s room. We have done the first three coats on the walls. We have done the ceiling and the door so we are left with the skirting boards, the window frame and the last coat of paint on the walls. We have decided to go green this time and not the traditional blue. Not because we don’t like blue, in fact it’s just the opposite as we have blue in the lounge and in the bathroom so we feel it’s time to change. Having said that the pot of green paint is scarily bright looking so we’ll see if it remains or not!

Other than that we are…okay. Mike is having trouble with his right leg. According to the doctor he has “irritated his sciatic area”. What he said to it I don’t know…. But seriously, he is in alot of pain and I’m sure would appreciate your prayers. Tomás sprung out in a rash which has steadily spread across his whole body and hasn’t been sleeping very well the past couple of nights. The doctor thinks it’s an allergic reaction to food but which food I don’t know so I’m playing it safe at the moment. He got given some cream as well so we shall see how he goes.

I am well though on a brighter note! I’ll get some photos taken of the room. We forgot to take some of it before we started so it will have to be half way through so until then!

No posts, no pictures, no computer

Hi all,

Just a little quick update. Our computer’s power supply died last week, hence the lack of blog updates from us – but do not fear mike is on the case and we should hopefully be back up this week. Power supply is being ordered today and hoping for it to be delivered “manana” – see you on the other side!

Other than that we are all well, started painting Tomás room at the weekend and we are now sleeping in the living room again 🙁 But that just gives more of an incentive to finish sooner.

Until next time.

Mike

Am much better thankyou

As you may or may not know I was a victim of the norovirus last week and I can safely say I do not remember being so ill before! It was the worst thing I have come across for a while but I shall spare you the details and say I’m much better now :).

However because of this we haven’t been up to much. We did visit another church last Sunday as Mike was asked to lead worship. It was a baptist church in Angel and made a nice change. Tomás was abit unstoppable at times wanting to be everywhere but he enjoyed himself! He really likes going out and about exploring.
